Clear day in January

Spence after a job was offered to him!

Emma conquered the rings that day

Grampa cheered Emma on

and helped Thane on the slide

A clear day in the park in January: LOVE those days!

It's Always fun when Grampa comes...

Grampa wore himself out reading stories

and stories,

and more stories for Emma and Thane.

We were lucky enough to have Rachel and Hyrum come
visit for a few days too! Thane and Emma adored the chance
to entertain Hyrum.

I think he liked it a little bit too.

January wasn't so gray this year because of time well used with those we love.

Trip to NY Part I-Serving with Grampa

Grampa has been at the bishop's storehouse every Friday all day long for a decade. He used to go and volunteer. It is one of his callings now. He goes in at 6am and leaves around 3pm sometimes not until 5pm. We wanted to spend time with Grampa so we came later...at 9am.

Emma loved counting the fruit.

Thane loved the snacks and using the scales.

You can see some of the fruits of our labors after they were grouped for filling orders.

Tim Horton donuts were Grampa's treat for the helpers. Emma didn't like them.
Neither did Thane. They couldn't find ONE they liked. (They LOVED them ALL!)

Emma and Thane loved carrying the boxes out to recycle.

They also loved climbing on the shelves to fill orders.

Grampa was so good and so patient! He let the kids help and encouraged them. I loved watching Emma think as we told her about all of the food we prepared for people who didn't have enough for their families. I hope my children will recognize their blessings. I want so much for them to know the value of work and to look for ways to serve others.
Thanks for the example and the opportunity Grampa. I know kids usually have to be at least 8 to help...we were glad to go!
We worked hard and then had lunch at Tom Wahls...yummy hamburgers and homemade root beer. One great memory.

"It's always fun when Grampa comes

When Grampa comes hooray!...

He always says the kindest things...
and in the longest way!

He wears a wrinkly twinkly smile...
and works and naps each day!
It's always fun when Grampa comes, when Grampa comes!"
That was us singing...We love having time with Grampa! We sing with him, ride/push bikes, read stories, pick 60 lbs or more of raspberries, eat salmon on the grill, eat ice cream and raspberry pies--DELICIOUS!, go to the temple, plant some vegetables, and watch some odd movies/old movies,... and just ENJOY him. We love making memories with you Grampa! Can't wait to visit with you again soon!
