Turkey Bowl Champs Once Again

The most anticipated day of the year has come and gone. (I am not referring to the premier of TWILIGHT) Every year the OHSU school of dentistry puts together an epic clash of classes called the Turkey Bowl. And for the last 3 years since I have been in dental school, my boys from the class of 2009 have strapped up their cleats, tied on some flags and destroyed the competition. The pressure was all on us Saturday to become 4-peat champions. Our first game against the freshmen was by far our greatest challenge. At the half we were down 1-3. We made some adjustments, changed to a man-up defense, and outscored our opponents 3-0 in the second half to get into the championship game. The sophomores had defeated the juniors in their first game for a shot at us for first place. They put a valiant effort but, never even put our 4th straight Turkey Bowl championship in jeopardy as we won 6-0. I can't imagine dental school without these guys and I will miss you all a ton when it is all over. I LOVE THESE GUYS.

He-man and She-ra

We had a blast this Halloween. Every year a group of our friends have a themed party. Past years have been "people from the 80's" and "famous couples". This year's theme was "super heros and super villains. After much deliberation on the subject Saralyn and I decided to go as He-man and She-ra...I know it is weird because they were twin siblings, but we thought it would be fun. We had a blast making our own costumes (thanks a million to my mom for her help with my fur speedo). Saralyn and I were voted as best costumes of the party and we had a great time with friends. Fall Fun

I wasn't feeling that great towards the end of last week. Friday came around and I couldn't get anyone in to see me at the dental school, so when Saralyn asked me when we could go to the pumpkin patch, it was an easy choice to sleep in and avoid school completely. It was such a nice day to get away and Emma has been wanting to get back to the pumpkin patch. We had a blast riding on the boat and train. Emma liked the Sea Monster and Shark that popped up out of the water. We enjoyed sandwiches in the grass and under some trees. We all got naps when we got home. Later that day we had our church Halloween party. In the end it was nearly the PERFECT day.

Thane is about 7 weeks now. He is a great kid. He is sleeping well and is adored by all of us. Here are a few pictures to update everyone.

Thane David

OK so we never update our blog, but we can't skip by this event without sharing it. Our son was born this weekend and Mom and baby are doing great. It is WAY too late for me to be awake so I will make this short and hit the sack. His name is Thane David and here are a few pictures...

IT'S A..........BOY!!!

Thats right, Saralyn and I are expecting a baby come September. We have been slow letting people know because we have had a few miscarriages. So we waited, then we decided to wait longer and not let everyone know until we found out the sex of the baby. So we went to the doctor today (another good reason for me to miss school) and had a looksy loo with the ultrasound...I don't think I have ever been so excited to see a penis before. We are both very excited.

INDIA

Over spring break I was able to go to India with some of my classmates from dental school, a couple med students, faculty from both schools, some Pedo residents, and a group of four from New Zeland. We teamed up with Dashmesh dental school and hospital in Faridkot India (near Amristar and the Pakastan border). For a week we treated women and children at the school and hospital. It was a great experience and we had a blast with our students and faculty hosts. After the week in Faridkot, three classmates and I did some traveling around Dehli, Agra (home of the Taj Mahal), and Jaipur. I had a great time and have great stories to tell...too many for one blog post, so keep checking back for more.
